Crypto community members are currently actively discussing the news that one unlucky investor paid a commission of $120,381 for transferring just 1 bitcoin .

Information about this appeared on the Whale Alert platform for tracking large blockchain transactions.

A fee of more than 1 bitcoin was just paid for one transaction, the platform’s page says.

Many community members are wondering what caused this outage, since the typical fee ranges from a few cents to a few dollars, even during network congestion.
Some believe that such a high transaction fee is a mistake due to incorrect manual data entry. Others suggest that it could have been done intentionally to attract attention or test the network's data processing system. However, there is no clear explanation yet.

Incidents like these are not uncommon in the crypto space. In December 2024, another user paid 8.18 Bitcoin, which was worth over $800,000 at the time, to withdraw only 0.142 BTC.

Many holders of the asset are selling Bitcoin to lock in profits. On May 22, the flagship cryptocurrency reached a new high of $111,861, but then rolled back slightly to $111,727.
